How do I clear my iPhone of all its content, so that I can sell it?

I am trying to get rid of my iPhone to get the new 3G version. I am wondering how to reset it, so all the content gets deleted, as well as my number.

Does it have 2.0?
if it does you can do that clean swipe.

If not, wait a day to get 2.0 and then do the clean swipe, otherwise there is no “true” way to remove everything from 1.1.4 as people found out; as that “reset everything” button seemed to keep traces of important information.
