In your opinion what is the next greatest Ken Follett book?

Asked by MooCows (3216points) August 30th, 2016

I had never read The Pillars of the Earth and saw
on this website that several people said it was one
of their most favorite books. Now I know why as I
have just finished it and cannot think of anything else
for days it was that great. Of course now I want to read
another of his novels and I am hoping I can get some
response on which is his next best book!

Well, if you liked Pillars of the Earth, you should read the sequel: World Without End.

I believe those are his only books in that genre. He usually writes modern thrillers.

I just read on Wikipedia that he’s got a third book in the Pillars series in the works. I’m now looking forward to that one. ^_^

I agree with @Seek, read the next book in his series. I haven’t read the third one either.

The only book of his that I’ve read and enjoyed is The Eye of the Needle, and that is a fairly classic example of the late-1970s spy novel.

I also read Night Over Water, because I was given a free copy. Don’t. Just… don’t. It’s one of the worst novels I’ve ever read.

Everyone swoons over The Pillars of the Earth, but I’ve been told that this series is better at the whole “fiction about building cathedrals” thing.

@Seek I am waiting for my DSW to finish re-reading World Without End so I can pick it up again.
@Earthbound_Misfit There is a third? What is the title?

Not a big fan of thrillers so have not read any others of his.

The Key to Rebecca. Interesting and better than the film- which was not too bad.
His series are good. I really like the earlier reads of his the best, fwiw.

The third (which only has a working title) will be released next year.
