Would Mike Pence's choice for VP get stonewalled by the DNC?

Asked by Hypocrisy_Central (26879points) February 10th, 2017

Trump leaves office, health problems, assassinated somehow (heaven forbid) and Mike Pence takes over, if he chooses (for whatever reason) someone like Newt Gingrich, or another very unpopular Republican, if the GOP loses one or both houses, and it takes both to confirm Pence’s choice, would the DNC stonewall the selection of VP and hold it hostage for concessions they want?

Stonewalled? Unlikely.

But I think it’s fair to say that there would be some serious back-and-forth negotiations beforehand.

I think that Pence would not be stupid enough to select someone that could not be approved.

If he fails to choose someone he really wanted because he knows the DNC will never go along with it for no true reason only that they don’t like him/her or Pence it will be a de facto threat of stonewalling be it uttered or not.
