It's that day again! How are you celebrating Π day?

Asked by Strauss (23624points) March 14th, 2017

Today is 3.14, the day when millions will be celebrating that transcendental relationship between the distance around that flakey crust and the distance across through the center of the delicious filling. Are you one of those millions, and if so, how are you celebrating?

I know it’s silly but I’m having a piece of pecan pie for dessert tonight. The pie is waiting on the kitchen counter.

It’s 14. 3. here. No pies.

Me and Ponce D are gonna party like it’s 3.14.1592! ;-D

@Sneki95 Okay, be that way…no pi for you!~

Earthbound_Misfit's avatar

I had a lamb and rosemary pi for dinner last night. Does that count?

JLeslie's avatar

I might go for a chicken pot pie, does that count?

Strauss's avatar

Pi can be sweet or savory, appetizer, entree, dessert, or even snack! Even a Moon Pie® can count. Especially if you wash it down with an RC® Cola!

Trapped because of the storm, but planning on having me some yummy egg pi (had a quiche in the freezer) to celebrate after the next shoveling.

janbb's avatar

I’m in the house with the storm too. Have some leftover pizza pi that should do it.

Pizza definitely counts in my book.

Something Lime flavored will be Key to my Pi Day celebration. And I might join @JLeslie with a chicken pot pi.

@Sneki95 You get to celebrate Tau day in June….

My work will actually be celebrating with a pie eating contest! But it has to be tomorrow because we’re all home hiding from the storm today.

I am celebrating pi day by linking to a simple way of representing pi and some other familiar numbers. We all know that pi is irrational, meaning that it is not equal to a fraction and does not have a repeating decimal.

There is a gentle monster called a continued fraction, which allows a pattern in the representation of pi. A continued fraction is a fraction whose denominator is a whole number plus a fraction, and that second fraction has a denominator which is a whole number plus a fraction, and so on.

Pizza for lunch.

Strauss's avatar

@Patty_Melt, @janbb Me 3! It’s-a got-ta be-a big-a piz-za!

canidmajor's avatar

Well, pooh. Now I want pizza, but I doubt they’re delivering.

janbb's avatar

I’ll saddle up my drone and send you a piece.

canidmajor's avatar

Yes, please! Thank you! <3

@canidmajor How much snow up there. We had mostly rain and a little sleety snow an hour ago. They were predicting 12 inches.

canidmajor's avatar

We got about 6–8 inches before the sleet started, then the rains came, and now it’s freezing up. We’ll have ice 3 inches thick by morning. I’m not going anywhere for days. Good thing I went a little nuts at Trader Joe’s the other day! :-)

janbb's avatar

^^ I bought jellybeans! I think it may be fairly icy around here tomorrow.

Food as a substitute for Spring…what does Freud say about that I wonder?

janbb's avatar

@canidmajor It’s a substitute for a lot of things. Just sayin’

Earthbound_Misfit's avatar

@janbb and @canidmajor, when I was away, I found the cutest jelly baby earrings. So cute. You can’t eat them, but you can sit at home wearing them while it snows outside! Not here of course! We have rain at the moment. I’m off to float around on a river at the end of this week – and rain is forecast!
