For those who make ground coffee, how much coffee do you put in per cup?

Asked by rojo (24179points) June 19th, 2017

As asked.

I usually put in one scoop (1 tablespoon) per cup as delineated on the carafe. I say that because I use a mug and not a cup and as far as I am concerned a 5 cup carafe only makes 2½ cups of coffee but the markings on the side say 5 cups so that is what I am using as a point of reference

I use a 1/8th cup (two tbsp) scoop, and use 5 scoops of whole beans in the grinder for a “ten cup” coffeemaker. I get about 9 pots of coffee out of a 1 lb bag of beans.

I have a one-cup maker and use a 12 oz mug. I use 1.5 scoops which is 1.5 tablespoons.

Two scoops into the grinder for a pour-over into my 12 oz. mug.

I just eyeball it.

I use about 25 grams of coffee for 5–6 (coffee-maker-unit) cups of water, in a percolator. 25 grams is… I’ll have to measure it tomorrow morning if I can remember, but it’s probably around 3 tablespoons, I think?

Ok, I made some. I actually use about 20g per “5–6 cups” of water as shown on the carafe & percolator, where 20g is about 4 tablespoons in ground form.

It would depend on if you’re making regular coffee, cowboy coffee, espresso, or Cuban coffee. Trial and error, but those before me seem to know what they like and how to go about it. What kind of maker ya’ll usin’? I hear a French press works wonders for flavorful coffee!

For a half pot of coffee, about 6 cups, I use 3 or 4 coffee scoops depending on how strong I need it. A believe each scoop is 1 tablespoon.

A French press asks for a 2 tbsp scoop of coarse grind per cup. That’s how they make it at Peet’s and at Blue Bottle.

I use ¼ cup grounds per 12 cups of coffee in my drip coffee maker. The 12 cups are really only 6 oz each, so I get about 9 actual cups of coffee.
