Globalization opens us up to new ideas and cultures. In terms of trade, it widens the range of products that are available and lowers prices.

On the other hand, globalization results in greater homogeneity and less diversity, as different cultures blend with one another. For example, languages are disappearing at the rate of one every two weeks One can imagine a world that is uniformly all housing developments and industrial malls, with no clue as to what part of the world you are in.

The greatest impact of globalization is a new awareness that we do not live in a vacuum and that something that happens half way around the world can have a direct impact on our lives. It means we can tackle problems as a world and not in isolation.

Wow @tinyfaery I can’t wait until globalization reaches the US! We certainly seem to be lacking that insight.

@rojo Not really a surprise there.
