What is it with cats and their spidey sense when bedding gets manhandled?

Asked by Stache (4934points) May 11th, 2019

Cats can be in the other side of the house but the second you start to make your bed they come running to investigate and attack.

What’s up with that?

They have very good hearing and can locate soft sounds, and even when partly asleep (i.e. most of the time) they are tracking what is happening where.

Different cats are interested in different things, and different types of play. Some cats are very into the game (and/or actual hunting) of finding and attacking things moving under other things. Once such a cat experiences you making the bed as a possible occasion for his/her favorite type of play, they may hear you doing that from far away and come to see if you’ll play that game with them.

It’s just another battle your cat must win. Every movement in their domain is to be investigated and attacked.
Why are you manhandling your bedding?

It’s kind of like dogs only with them it’s the rustle of food being opened in the kitchen,

What does the word “spidey” mean? This is second time I’ve read it today.

“Spidey” can refer to anything related to Spiderman, especially his ability to sense danger that’s not detectable by any of the standard 5 senses.

@chyna I’m strange like that. =)

Life would be boring without pets.
