Why is there such urgency to Republican voter suppression measures?

Why do we now see the most intense effort to restrict voting since post Civil War reconstruction?

Because it’s the only way the fright wing have at trying to regain power,is make it hard as hell for the poor working person to vote.
Of course they never will admit that, they go with things that say it’s making voting more secure and transparent, and of course people have to believe them because they are the God fearing right always looking out for the rich er, everyone.

They want Trump back in the White House or any other ultra-rich right wing person the GOP can steer.

Probably all the trillion dollar expenditures by Biden. Another will be proposed tonight.

But the one and a quarter trillion dollar tax cut for the rich by Trump was just great?^

The elections of 2022. They want to take control of Congress again. It should be obvious.

@SQUEEKY2 As Jaysus said, “It is easier to poke a camel with a needle, than for a socialist moocher to enter the Kingdom of Heaven”. The New Republican Revised Buybull. Gospel of Saint Ronald the Reagan. Preacher Billy Bob done leaned ya that last Sunday. Guess you weren’t at Sunday go to Meetin’ last week. Probly called off sick on J.B. Fatwallet so’s he wouldn’t have to pay you Sunday wages. Moocher.

@SQUEEKY2
I will post a link to an article explaining it and refer you to the 16th amendment of the US Constitution.

RETURN THE TAXES RATES TO THE RICH that Trump and the GOP sent through as a “tax break for everyone” except the taxes went back for everyone but people making more than $400,000 !
The 16th Amendment says they can collect taxes not that Trump and GOP set-up a “country club tax break”!

(—yes I know @KNOWITALL—).

I don’t make $400K and I won’t ask if anyone else does!

It’s how they win elections. Like @janbb said, it’s pretty obvious. There aren’t enough rich people (and white nationalists) to win by increasing voter participation. They need to reduce the electorate.

I would guess the the more time they have to get it going, the more successful they’ll be.

Because the rich are running the country with the interests of the rich at heart. They don’t want ordinary people, and especially the poor, to have too much influence.

Because Republicans are so very, very concerned about deficits.

The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget estimated that the policies Trump campaigned on in 2016 and then pushed while in office will add $3.9 trillion to the fiscal deficit through 2026.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

The GOP intentionally takes in less money (taxes from the rich and famous) and complains the deficit is growing. They must have CPA s to balance the checkbooks, maybe not all.

But really can’t understand the GOP less money in taxes . . . oh they want the poor, people of color and elderly to disappear !

Call_Me_Jay's avatar

This one is.

If you vote Republican, you don’t. Every Republican president in the past 50 years has left a record deficit. Borrow-and-spend and leave the Democrats to clean up the mess.

When the Clinton administration was paying down the debt, Republicans were howling “Look, ! The government has too much money!!!!”

KNOWITALL's avatar

@Call_Me_Jay I don’t always vote Republican but even when I do, I’m always a fiscal conservative.

Bill was my first vote and I’m still glad I did, even though he was a brat.

Republicans know voter suppression is the only hope the Mango Messiah has to win if he runs in 2024.
