Are 8 or 10 Pack Abs Impossible to Achieve?

Asked by Coolguy97 (110points) May 1st, 2021

When I was at the Grocery Store in Australia today I saw a guy on the cover of a Fitness magazine with 8 pack abs. I can get a 6 pack in 2 months thanks to my naturally slim body where I store no belly fat year round. I’m just wondering with a 16 inch torso at 5’4 do you think I can go beyond a 6 pack? It’s toned when I do get a 6 pack.

I saw a guy at the beach once who had a 10 pack and I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I’m wondering with the easy ability to get a 6 pack can I work my way up to 8 or 10 pack abs?

My mom and dad also have incredibly toned torsos as well so I definitely am genetically predisposed to having a toned torso. My mom tells me that she can still get a 6 pack at age 60.

The number of ‘packs’ is just genetics as far as I’m aware.

The appearance of abs is mostly defined having little belly far, which was the case for me until I hit 40. I need to cut my carbs…

What you need to work on is functional fitness. Some people get these packs and others don’t, it is genetics and body structure. By genetics, I don’t mean to say the people with ‘good’ genetics get 8 packs, I’m just saying that some people are genetically built that way. Their abs show with just a little bit of work. For others, it might never happen. The same question was asked to one of the greatest badminton players of all time, Lin Dan. He was a fine physcial specimen, with flat abs, strong core, massive thighs, calves and super stron upper body. He didn’t have a six pack but was probably the fittest, fastest and most agile athlete the sport has seen. His main rival had an 8 pack. So, a reporter asked him if he needs to work on his fitness to look as fit as his rival…he laughed it off and said, he’d do it only if they were competing to grace the cover of a glamor magazine. In sports, he said he was fine, as he had more titles than his rival. Functional fitness is important he said….and he is right….
