…just like me, they long to be…
(come on shilolo, you know how it goes!)

Perhaps they are habitualized to being fed by well-meaning humans, and anticipate you might have a tasty morsel for them?

Birds of a feather are flocking outside
Like whippets they dance in a curly-queue dance
Of pulses and ringing and campfire chants
Of ritual drumming although at first glance
You thought you could run but you wont take a chance Phish

They have a high amount of iron in their blood, and you are a magnet.

@La chica. Obviously, I am an idiot. But in my defense, I’m not exactly a big Karen Carpenter fan…

Because you’re in the area where the too-heavily-laden European swallows stop for a rest.

(I probably could have managed to make that funny if it didn’t happen to be almost 4 AM. Sorry.)

You need to stop hanging with Snow White.

@Mac – Haha! I know what you mean- my brain is slowly turning off as well.

Well, GA for potential humor.

You know Dave, I can’t be sure, but I’m fairly certain it is because on the day that you were born, the angels got together and decided to create a dream come. So, they sprinkled moondust in your hair and golden starlight in your eyes so blue. No don’t quote me on this (especially since it was written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David), it’s just a theory.

they want to peck out your eyes…

Clue, folks, is Bacharach. I heard that song in the early 1960’s – it was annoying even then.

From Wikipedia:

(They Long to Be) Close to You” is a popular song written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. It was first recorded by Richard Chamberlain and released as a single in 1963 as “They Long to Be Close to You,” without parentheses. However, it was the single’s flip side, “Blue Guitar,” that became a hit. .... .. the tune was also recorded as a demo by Dionne Warwick in 1963 and re-recorded with a Burt Bacharach arrangement for her 1964 album Make Way for Dionne Warwick, and was released as the B-side of her 1965 single “Here I Am.” But the version recorded by The Carpenters is the most well known, having become a hit in 1970.

Are there lilac trees, in the heart of town?
And a lark would sing in any other part of town?

On the day that you were born the angels got together and decided to create a dream come true. So they sprinlked moon dust in your hair and silver starlight in your eyes of blue…

Corollary:

Why do birds sing so gay?

deaddolly's avatar

omg…always hated that song. It’s the type that gets in your head. Who ever told Bert Bacharach that he could sing should be shot.
