Health, happiness, family, friends. The usual. I kind of hate to say “the usual”, but I’m thankful for the very good luck I’ve had and made in my life and I’m thankful for it every year.

This year I will be particularly thankful if the cat is feeling better.

My wedding anniversary is on thanksgiving. My husband passed away a year and a half ago. I am thankful for the time we had together and for the amazing 5yr old daughter we had. She is his greatest legacy. I am thankful for my wonderful extended family. I am also thankful for the introduction of a wonderful man into my life.

Too many things to list.
My parents and my brother.
My roomates, who keep me in touch with reality.
My best friend, without whom I would never escape reality.
The amazing professors who have inspired me to discover all that life has to offer and to just keep on trekkin’ when the going gets rough.
The awful professors who have made me come to appreciate my amazing professors still more.
Rain and warm socks.
My bed, where I arguably spend the best seven hours of my day.
Oatmeal and the smell of wood burning. <3
Rowing and all that it has done for my physique—and all the sweat, blood, tears, bruises, calluses, and searing migraines I sustained during my years as a rower. The American River, too. (I miss it so much)
My good friend Emily who keeps me updated on the goings-on at home. (I love you!)
Acne medication and South Park. :p
Music. Tori, I never would have gotten here without you.
Education and the fact that it is available to me while a fifth or more of the world remains illiterate.
The ocean and my cats.
My (infant) independence.
That Sarah Palin has been kept the living hell away from the White House.
With that said, I guess I’m thankful for Obama, too.
That I don’t live in the Middle East.
That I am well fed (despite having only access to dorm food).
That I don’t live on the street or in a corrugated tin shack, but in a real house with four walls and a carpeted floor and a shingled roof. That even has running water and electricity and Wi-fi.
The sunset.
Autumn.
My faith, not so much in God, but in myself.

My beautiful wife and my furry little family. I’m also thankful that the struggling economy has yet to effect me and my family. I am also thankful that no matter what the law says, and no matter what the ignorant bigots do to disavow my marriage, that I don’t need anyone else to affirm my love, devotion to my wondeful wife. Her family and my family accept our relationship, and neither of them would ever do anything to get in the way of our dedication to each other and our future.

Oh, so many things!
My family. My friends. My coworkers that appear instantly when I call for help. My job. My cardiologist for saving my life. My pets. My faith. Online acquaintances that send ‘thinking of you’ emails. My freedom. Our men and women in the armed services. All those that serve to protect us.

I’m thankful to have enough money to buy food and afford shelter. I’m thankful be able to help the less fortunate. I’m thankful that I’ve made a difference for the better in some peoples’ lives.
