How can I find an artist's rep?

Asked by PupnTaco (13895points) November 16th, 2008

I’m an illustrator looking for an artist’s representative to help promote me and drum up more work. I’ve cold-contacted about 50 reps across the US, in Canada and the UK – and have received no bites. Most give me no response, a “you don’t match our style” line or a “we don’t have enough work” line.

Anyone have any experience with artist’s reps they can relate?

Ouch. It is probably a really bad time in the economy to be trying. People just aren’t spending on art like they used to.
When I sold real estate, I was told that it took at least 7 contacts to even be remembered. Keep contacting those 50 reps on a regular basis. Maybe you could design a different beautiful card in your style for each of your follow up contacts. Sort of like a direct marketing program Each month they will get a card with another example of your talent. Use your talent to market your self. Every no is one step closer to a yes. Be persistent.
I hope it works out for you!!
