If you could create some roadside attraction (like the worlds largest ball of yarn) what would it be?

You have unlimited funds, and you can make whatever you want. People need to want to see it, or experience it. Especially if they’re bored and have been driving for six hours.

I would want something like in the very beginning of House of 1000 Corpses. I think it’d be cool to have one of those creepy attractions that attracts the geeks and lovers of the occult in throngs. Especially at Halloween!

And yes, I am answering my own question. What inspired this is something that my dad and I have theorized playfully about for years. We’ve noticed that different rumble strips have different tones. We want to create a system of rumbles strips that plays a song. Even cooler would be the ability to change songs once in a while. Cruise control would be suggested.

In an ideal universe, each side could be different and would harmonize.
We would overcome the front and back tire thing later. Maybe fade notes. I don’t know. We would figure it out!

@delirium Have you seen this? http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/19149
Great question!

Hahaha, I haven’t seen that one before, but i’ve seen a few. Neil Gaiman did an awesome book in which he continually mentions the magical properties of these places of accidental pilgrimage that people are oddly drawn to. (But he does it so much better than I just did.)

The website it a cool place to look up roadside attractions. I was thinking the part about the singing road would interest you.

WOAH. I JUST READ FULLY THROUGH THAT. Dude. I wish I had a chance to experience it before it went away.

(And I was typing that as you answered!)

Keep reading. They recreated it elsewhere. I think if you google it there are more of them out there too.

Why do all of them have to be so out of reach?! California, Tokyo, and Korea. I’m stuck here. Ohio.

(And I apologize if i’m bouncy and distracted right now. I’m not being rude. I’m just dealing with a WHOLE lot going on around me.)

I’d like to make one of those playgrounds that looks like a Habitrail with tunnels & climbing things and slides…only giant sized for adults. Why should kids have all the fun? ; )

I want to recreate a ninja warrior obstacle course. They look so hard, but at the same so much fun.
