Not I but someone close to me went for an annulment three days later.

No but I know some people who wish they would have waited longer and regret getting married at a young age.

I met him on Christmas Day and we eloped on January 15. I remember after we got the license we went upstair to the JP’s office, all I could think was what am I doing. He shipped out on January 22. By then I felt a deal was a deal and we tried for 7 years.

My one daughter had the big wedding and wished she would have saved the cash and eloped, my other daughter sort of eloped, went to Vegas and had about 30 people there. She wishes she had had the big wedding of her dreams. The grass is always greener, pros and cons for both.

Yup, the grass is always greener. Our situation was pretty complex- we live far far away from all family members, both wanted to enter degree programs after a long hiatus, wanted to buy a house, AND get married. Something had to give, and so, the wedding went. We eloped and told a few friends 2 days prior – it turned out to be a bash to remember and the ceremony was beautiful. We were blissed out….and then the GUILT. What about our moms?? They both told us they were happy for us, but deep down inside we knew that we had made a difficult decision that wasn’t perfect in the end. Two and half years later, we had enough resources to host a big bash and renewal ceremony, and our moms were present. I THINK it “fixed” things, but not sure.
Judi, how did you feel when your one daughter eloped? Do you think my mother in law will ever forgive me?
