This takes possessiveness to a whole new level.

Does your pet not do strange things? might be more appropriate, I think!

Our cat that lives in the basement does barrell rolls on the sidewalk for attention as he follows us while walking our dog. One of our other cats forgets to put his tongue away when done taking a bath—this is fairly common, I believe, but on a black cat with a pink tongue it’s pretty funny… Our last cat has been known to stand growling over a hotdog piece we gave her for fifteen minutes rather than just eating it, while the dog tries to herd the cats and tries, occasionally, to bite my violin. I think our gerbils are the only sane pets in the house…

My husband and I are currently between pets except for our imaginary dog, Rusty. But that’s a whole other story. :^>

Our last pet was a cat who lived to be 19. When she was younger she would bring me dead things that she seemed to have killed just for me. There were geckos, pigeons, and once a mouse. The first few times it was disturbing, especially if the thing was not quite dead yet. She brought me a bird a few times when I was at a fire pit in the back yard. Once she even brought me a bird, dropped it at my feet and looked at me and then went and got one for herself. She brought hers back and ate it or chewed at it right at my side. I think she expected me to cook mine and looked a little pissed that I didn’t.

When she got older, in her last few months maybe, she started losing her sense of smell. She no longer ran for tuna juice but if she saw you eating anything she wanted some. So, if I was peeling an orange I had to hold out a piece of it so she could sniff at it or put her tongue on it and then she’d reject it by jerking away and looking pissed.

Our cat used to poop in the garden and then bury it!

My cat eats Doritos.

And spiderwebs, cobwebs, dustwebs (if there is such a thing). I have tried looking into the web thang to no clear avail. Silly beasts.

That video always pisses me off.

Oh wow, that dog is crazy.

Erm, Lucy is generally pretty normal I think. Except when she comes into the room and is deciding where to sit, she’ll generally turn around on the spot three or four times before laying down.

She also barked at the Christmas tree for a day before deciding that it was a friend and laying under it. Thought that was quite cute.

When my boy cay get’s excited or is in an unfamiliar place, he does the “shaky shaky” with his tail. It’s the motion that cats make when they spray, but he doesn’t spray; he never has. Sometimes the shaking goes on for a good 15–20 seconds, but that’s only when he is really excited.

My cat does the same thing. She bites her paw and it looks like it hurts! I am wondering if she is emo :S.
But my cat goes crazy over nylon.

My crazy border collie looks at the ceiling and at the floor whenever he hears a beeping noise. My crazy hand raised kitten sucks on his foreleg when he’s happy and content. My crazy african grey freaks out and growls whenever one of her toys swings back and touches her (she can attack them, but they can’t attack her). My brain damaged rescue cat “makes muffins” with her back feet instead of her front feet.

Hmm. I have a house of rejects and freaks.

@richard: My vet once told me that when dog’s do that they’re actually aligning their spine to be more comfortable curled up which aids them in retaining their body heat. She’s not weird, she’s just snuggled up and cozy.

Now the Christmas tree….yeah. Your dog is adorable.

One of my cats keeps taking dumps in my shower. I think it is pretty weird considering I have two litter boxes for two cats right next to the shower and they are always clean. One of my cats likes to put itself in dangerous situations. One time it spent all day in the trunk of my sister-in-laws car on a summer day in FL and then one time my BF got down the road to look in the rear view mirror and see her riding out on his work trailer. We always have to check the cars for her because she is very stealthy and sneaky and the kind of cat that will live in a cupboard for three days without making a peep so while I am out with missing cat flyers she is in a baking dish under the counter.

My one cat loves having her thighs spanked (our SM kitty), flops around on the floor playing with her own tail and goes hiking with me on her leash without ever having been trained to. Another cat insists on perching in the Christmas tree every year. Yet another is the biggest attention whore ever – he’ll stand up on his hind legs and reach up to paw at your sleeve to get you to pick him up and he nibbles on your hand or cheek when you do pick him up. My standard poodle (traditionally water dogs) is skittish in the water.

Where to begin?? First off my cat Tigger does not act like a cat at all. More of a human dog like mix. He is just crazy…he will great people at the door like a dog, wait at the door until everyone comes home, every stranger is his friends, and he is spoiled as all hell. H etend to thing very highly of himself and take over everything in the house such as chair, laundry baskets, beds, pillow, your clothes…anything he damned well pleases. Oh and he loves every kind of food under the sun like a dog. Will eat anything at all practically from fish to steak and even pepperoni. He never likes anything thats actually his so he usually plays with our things. He just a very bazzar and unique cat.

Trance24's avatar

P.S- He drinks out of the toilet….

augustlan's avatar

My cats play fetch with crumpled paper and one of them drinks out of the toilet and incessently licks any kind of plastic bag like material (grocery bags, chip bags, tarps, etc.)

MindErrantry's avatar

Oh yeah—does anyone else’s cat lick photographs? Our tongue-sticker-outer does; we think it’s because he likes the tast of the gelatin or whatever related substance it is that they put on the surface of those things… Is he the only one?

Trance24's avatar

My cat licks anything for good measure…

Tantigirl's avatar

Yup MindErrantry, two of my three kitties does that too. And one of those loves to lick and chew sticky tape, especially if it is stuck to a cardboard carton. I can’t leave food on the bench for very long that has been wrapped in the Glad press ‘n seal wrap, because she’ll pull whatever it is off the bench to have a gnaw at it. She doesn’t take anything off the bench if it hasn’t been wrapped in it.

I’d say that all kitty owners know that anything that is brought into the house is owned by said kitty(s), including people. Mine are not shy at all, and love to jump into people’s arms, which can be very disconcerting for the people who are not expecting it. Many times we’ve had visiters have the daylights scared out of them because one of our cats is suddenly flying at them!!

One of my kitties has a sock fetish. No sock in our house is safe, and no matter where you hide them, she’ll find them. She taught herself to open the drawers in my bedroom so that she can find them. They are her ‘mice’, and we know this because once she has a sock in her clutches she’ll use her hunting voice, drag the sock all over the house until she finds you, and then drops it at your feet and says “look what I killed mum”. This stops being cute when she lays a dirty sock across my face, or on my pillow, chatting away about how clever she is, at 2:30am!!!

90s_kid's avatar

I think that the dog has an alter-ego problem.

amanderveen's avatar

@Tantigirl – One of my cats has the same sock fetish! She used to play fetch with them all the time and now just drags them out when she wants some special attention.

Although my Christmas tree climbing cat doesn’t like chewing sticky tape, he will chew on any sort of plastic film or bag. I’m constantly shooing him away and hiding stuff, otherwise it ends up thoroughly perforated.

Tantigirl's avatar

@amanderveen – isn’t it funny when they do that? My little girly loves a particular pair of my socks, and the last time I was putting them on she came into the room, told me in no uncertain terms that these are her socks, and then grabbed hold of one of the socks, which I was in the process of pulling onto my foot, and tried to drag it off me. Now, I have three pairs of socks which are identical, to me anyway, and I have no idea how she knows which ones are which, but she does, because it is only this particular pair that she will tell me off for wearing!!

My two cats like to smell some watercolor paintings i have on my wall. Something in the chemical makeup drives them crazy!

nocountry2's avatar

These are awesome. My cat Salem likes to jump up on the toilet seat while you’re going and watch exactly what is going on. She also likes to watch food cook in the microwave, and kisses us in the morning by pressing her nose on our mouth…

90s_kid's avatar

@nocountry2 the first one is completely and utterly gross
But my cat wakes me up every morning with kisses :)

nocountry2's avatar

haha…yeah, I don’t get it. She also LOVES to get sucked with the vacuum hose – seriously, she runs up and prostrates herself before it, purring all sexy-like and sticking her butt up until I vacuum her. Weird. I swear this cat is going to end up in the dishwasher or washing machine one day….oh, Salem.

90s_kid's avatar

Haha. My cat’s name is Shakira…but before the singer (she is 8).
