How hard would be to get a job as a mac genius?

Asked by monsoon (2528points) December 30th, 2008

I work as a sort of help desk technician at a big name competitor of apple, and I’m aware that hourly pay at apple starts out a good eight dollars more than what I’m making there.

Also I’m a mac nerd.

I’m currently working on a mac certified support professionals certification, and I was just wondering if anyone has experience trying to get a job as a genius, and if it’s terribly difficult.

Also, ideas for anything more I can do to get a leg up would be really helpful.

Gracias.

I don’t believe it’s very difficult. My cousin is a Mac Genius and she’s really had no other experience in computers job-wise before that, she’s just a mac nerd as well ;) They flew her out to California and everything for training, I thought that was pretty awesome.

Seems like you’ve got what it takes. A lot of then really aren’t that good from what I’ve heard.

glassdoor.com says the average is around 20 dollars an hour, the same as I've heard from word of mouth.
