My brother doesn’t. He’s tiny. He’s 5’6” and 26.

I’m married to one (5’5) and after several years I would have to say there seems to be a great deal of overcompensation. He always seems to have something to prove. I think in some little guys that could manifest as a “chip” but not all.

IMHO, I have seen that most of the men I know, that are smaller in stature, overcompensate in one way or another. Either they have that proverbial chip, or maybe they are overtly loud, or are extremely comical or analytical. The funny comparison here is that I have also noticed these same traits in most of the very tall women I know.

Doesn’t every man have a “chip?” I would say chips=testicles.

There should be a tall woman-short guy dating club. Could solve both their problems.
think of all the interesting positions

Also, I think what we’re referring to here is the Napoleon Complex

cprevite: Which might explain in reverse why I, as a 5’2 woman, married a 6’2 man!

@oasis – ??? twice?

cookieman's avatar

@bythebay: Well there ya go. You could start the site. We’ll cal it, “Unevenly Matched”

bythebay's avatar

@cprevite- Maybe… Unevenly Matched, But Perfectly Suited!

@bythebay: Oooh, that’s good! Awright, stand back! We’re brainstorming here.

The Q&A Section of the site could be called “The Long and Short of It”.

And we’ll have equal input from both ends of the height spectrum to make sure nobody get’s the short end of the stick.

I actually wrote a paper once on the aspects and outcomes of Assortative Selection/Dating. There truly is someone for everyone! @oasis, sorry for the thread diversion!

Oops my last answer was deleted. Sorry Oasis – didn’t mean to thread-jack

Too bad, I was on a roll.

In my experience, generally yes.

I’m 5’ 4” and I think I’m chip-free. I don’t mind being short. I don’t hit my head as much as those tall guys do!

90s_kid's avatar

I am 5’3’’

augustlan's avatar

@loser: I have known a few who weren’t like that, but far more who are. I’m glad you are chip-free!

rollid's avatar

I’m sure that some of them do, but I wouldn’t say it’s the rule. My boyfriend is 5’6” and awesome! I’m a huge advocate of dating short guys! My boyfriend is gorgeous and kind and he cooks but he was overlooked for years because of his height. Maybe that’s why some short guys have a chip on their shoulder.

Let’s evolve as women! Take a chance, date someone shorter!
