Are there any 7-seater family cars in the UK that are good looking and cool?

Asked by ssteward (110points) January 6th, 2009

The only options seem to be a big, brash 4×4, an MPV or a mini bus but none of these are cool. Whatever happened to the class of cars like the Citroen CX Familiale? The closest we have is the E-Class Merc estate with the seats in the boot but they don’t seem too safe and they use up the boot space. It’s got to be modern and reliable, which rules out the a classic CX.

Not sure what you could find that isn’t an MPV or a 4×4, unless you’re looking for a stretched limousine.

I have a ford explorer (smaller than the expedition) has 7 seats, 2 front, 2 rear, and 3 center. It is a 4X4 but it also gets 28.8 mpg city, 32 mpg highway.

@Irk: hmm, a limo. Those 6-door E-Class Mercs, so beloved of the African embassies in London, are quite cool and are certainly unusual but you’d have problems parking one.

Check out VW’s site. I love their Caddy (I wish they sold them in the states) or perhaps the Touran or the California.

I own the US version of the California, and I love it.
