Did I just Reistall Mac OS X?

Asked by monsoon (2528points) January 14th, 2009

I put the install CD in with the intention of looking at the repair utilities that are on it, but did not see them. I opened the black X icon, and it had a button to restart.

I thought perhaps that this utilities menu was only available upon booting from CD, so instead of doing this manunally, I clicked the restart button, and now it appears that my OS has been reinstalled. Is this the case?

I can’t eject the CD, and… It’s asking my to choose a language.

Keep going until you see a menu bar at the top and select Disk Utility.

You haven’t reinstalled the OS. When you’re done with the utility, select Restart from the Apple Menu and eject the disk.

Yeah, I just had to go one screen further and all was well. I was just afraid to. Thanks though :)

I was about to be in the doghouse.

On the plus side, I found those utilities I was looking for.

no, you have not. you have just booted from in the install cd. don’t worry, before you install any operating system there is more warning then that.
