We don’t have Circuit City up here, but we did in Texas. I bought a lot of stuff there & I loved that store. It’s too bad that it’s closing. They had a wonderful selection of things at good prices.

Yes. Circuit City was one of my favorite electronic and media stores. Now I’ll have to go to Best Buy, which has crappy customer service. ;(

After the way they treated their senior floor employees, I refused to shop there again. Now that they’re closed, I feel sorry for the workers that stayed, but otherwise, I’m dancing on their grave.

I used to love Circuit City, but when they began to charge a fee for returning merchandise if the box had been opened, even with a sales receipt, I stopped going there.

I didn’t like Circuit City and Best Buys freak me out. First, there seems to be an unholy mix of items. Second, the space is designed in a way that everything feels like it’s at eye level. Third, the customer service is really, really aggressive. Often when I finally do take them up on their help, it’s clear they’re just giving me some regurgitated sales pitch but don’t really know what the heck they’re talking about.

I wish there was another electronics store that wasn’t so cheesy…

Not at all, haven’t shopped there in years. I am looking forward to the discounts though : )

Nice to be on the other side of the fence after CompUSA went under.

I am not going to miss the store as I never shopped there….however, I hate to see another empty store.

I feel badly for the 30,000 people out of a job.

yep, thats 34,000 FAMILIES

I can not believe that the SECOND Largest electronics retailer did not find a buyer (still a chance though)
If I had a few hundred million dollars lying around, I’d buy them right away and wait a few years and LAUGH at the competition…

I’m another one who refused to shop there once they laid-off all those people. Got what they deserved.

I never shopped there, so, no, I won’t miss it.

Bluefreedom's avatar

No, I won’t be missing it at all really. I almost always shop at Best Buy where I have found better deals than at Circuit City on many occasions.

Push it, pull it, flick it, turn it.
Anyway you turn it on,
This is what you watch it on.
At the City, Circuit City!
Come to where there’s selection and good prices at the start…
Anyway you work it,
Integrate your circuit.
At the City, Circuit City!

Yeah, gonna miss them! (sniff!)

Guess I’ll hafta find someplace else to wander around and not buy stuff.

@laureth I agree with you on the senior sales people…I was one of them. I can’t wait for them to be completely liquidated. I now work on commission, and there are 4 circuits closing up shop near me which means more money in my pocket =)

And now I can go in there and buy all sorts of music, dvds, and anything else I can find being blown out.

chelseababyy's avatar

HAHAHAH. No. I worked there for a hell of a long time selling car audio and installing. It was a fun job, but I would never go back, even if I could.

mcbealer's avatar

I will after I hopefully find a sweet-deal on a new TV
(sorry Circuit City folks, but my TV is dying and I can’t afford normal retail pricing!)

Snoopy's avatar

Keep in mind that liquidation doesn’t necessarily mean lower price. Especially the first few weeks…...

cwilbur's avatar

I haven’t shopped there in years. I don’t think I’ll miss them.

Honestly, I’m not sure I’d miss Best Buy if it closed. Every time I’ve been in there looking for something specific, I’ve had a great deal of anti-help from misinformed staff.

robmandu's avatar

No kiddin’, @cwilbur. You should’ve seen what a BB rep tried to sell me when I was looking for a cost effective, simple solution to this problem.

Coax ≠ RCA ≠ S-Video. Srsly!
