Does fluther dominate your day?

Asked by steve6 (2569points) February 10th, 2009

It’s probably been asked before, but why is this site so addictive? I go to it more than my e-mail. This is sick.

Absolutely! And it probably will continue to do so until I find something new. This happened first with facebook and then with twitter. Who knows what will be next. . .

Fluther pretty much dominates my day and will continue to do so until baseball season begins. Then it will be fluther and baseball, probably in that order.

amen to baseball

eponymoushipster's avatar

yes. although, with all the things twitter does now, that is starting to form an attraction.

but they don’t have a tshirt yet.

steve6's avatar

are those other sites as discriminating?

eponymoushipster's avatar

i should say too, on thursdays, facebook/threadless completely owns me. they have a contest every hour.

i actually time my dinner break at work to partake.

jlm11f's avatar

What facebook/threadless contests? I have never heard of this.

eponymoushipster's avatar

@PnL become a fan of threadless on facebook. then on thursdays, every hour starting at, uhm, 12noon CST, they pick a random fan to win gift certs, and often times, fans from the commenters as well. that’s how i won last week! w00p!

actually, last friday, they were tweeting gift cert codes for the community, and the faster you were, the bigger a chunk you got. they went up to $200! (follow them on twitter for that)

@eponymoushipster What’s twitter? I’ve never heard of it.

I’m on here & Askville both. They don’t DOMINATE my day, but it comes pretty close. I’m on these two & I get lots of emails, so I do spend a lot of time on here, there’s no doubt about that. TOO much, really.

It doesn’t dominate my day but it is certainly a very welcome companion for me at night. I work 6 pm to 6 am and it is nice to spend several hours on Fluther each evening/early morning and it is a very addicting website.

I’ve met so many good people here and I’m so relaxed and happy as a part of this community that I have nothing but great things to say about it. Fluther is terrific, hands down.

Fluther has the potential to totally dominate my days and nights and if it ever does, I’m ready for it. :o)

Vinifera7's avatar

Sadly, it does at the moment.

I find there are people here who can manage to make me laugh, and chances for me to be snarky. It’s relaxing, but doesn’t dominate my days. I do, however, lose track of time on it.

steve6's avatar

@delirium my sentiments exactly

Jayne's avatar

Of course not! It simply adds a gentle flavour, a light seasoning, which subtly enhances my…
Oh, who am I kidding. Guilty as charged.

I have ruled for almost an hour or more.

@jbfletcherfan www.twitter.com it’s microblogging. sort of like if all you could have for a blog entry was your status line from facebook. what’s cool, though, is you can do so much more with it. For example, I can track packages (using tracking#) via Twitter. and there’s more (check out this wired article) kinda fun, and you can do it from your phone/iPhone as well.

@AstroChuck, you’re a Lurve Machine!

dynamicduo's avatar

It did, but it’s not anymore. I’ve learned to stop caring as much as I did.

Grisson's avatar

It tends to, in waves. It became necessary to reorganize my Things-to-do list at work to make sure I focused on work for a significant part of the day.

Also, sometimes I get discouraged and leave the collective for hours at a time. There’s only so much ‘snarkiness’ one can take <or give> in a day, I guess.

cdwccrn's avatar

It does not dominate my day, but does provide entertainment for several minutes, several times a day. Thanks to all for making me feel welcome.

loser's avatar

Yes, and it’s the reason I rise from bed every morning.

augustlan's avatar

Sadly, yes. I don’t know how I’ll cope with the loss when (if?) I find a job!

LostInParadise's avatar

I am not sure how relieved I am to see that I am not alone in my addiction. Maybe the right attitude is to think of this place as a sane asylum in a world that has definitely gone flat out bonkers.

augustlan's avatar

@LostInParadise I like that. A sane asylum!
