Is it bad when a gadget is always cold?

Asked by mirza (5057points) November 23rd, 2007

The weather’s pretty chilly here in NJ. The problem is my N770 Internet Tablet is always really cold when i touch it. This only happens with the N770 since my laptop, cell phone and iPod stay in room temperature. So is it bad when this happens?

It could be a good thing. my laptop slows down when it gets hot, you could be cooling it down. I don’t know though.

depends on how cold. very cold temperatures can screw up liquid crystal displays. the manual for your N770 should specify its safe operating temperature range.

The only concern I’d have with “really cold” would be the possible damage from materials rapidly changing tempature (hot to cold).

Cold is certainly better for electronics than hot.
