I have a Pokémon Platinum gave which I just beat, and I wanted to know if there was a way to get the SAV file off of it.

You must have a special cart with homebrew running to the best of my knowledge. You can’t pull SAV files from the DS otherwise, because there is not way to connect to you computer.

Can you elaborate? Which cart do you suggest and how would I use it?

You would need something like this. It’s called (this particular one) and R4 card. It allows you to install onto a micro SD card homebrew games, and ROMS of your games. ROMS are files that you can download off of the internet. I will NOT tell you how to get ROMS. It is illegal to download them unless you own the game. If you want to download them, Google it.

Because this functions with the micro SD cart, you can take that card and put it into a card reader on your PC or Mac. Then you can browse all of the files that were on there.

There are many places you can download .sav files, and you can download other formated saves as well (like .duc). If you are interested in learning exactly how these things work, get onto Youtube or Google and do a little searching. I’m more of a PSP modder, so I’ve never done anything with my own DS. I have many friends who do this with their DSs and I’ve been present for most of it. So that’s just what I’ve seen.

There are many forums that are on the web just waiting to help you, so if you are interested in learning more about how exactly to use the R4, then I’d try looking at those forums.

I have an Acekard 2i, but I wanted to download the SAVs off of my retail carts. How would I do that? I don’t think there is a way to download the SAV just using that because how could you have both carts in the DS at the same time?

Oh, I see. So you have something really close to the R4. I do not believe there is a way to get the .sav file from a retailed card. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that being done. The retail card has no way of being connected to a computer or your Acekard 2i, so It’s probably (and sadly) not possible. If there were a way (and I don’t think there is…) it would be using a GBA SuperCard. You could maybe have the GBA SuperCard in the GBA slot, and your DS game in the DS slot. From there, you might be able to run some sort of HomeBrew application to extract the .sav. But, that doesn’t sound like anything that is possible.

I’m sorry that I can’t help! I’d try searching Google one more time. But, that’s my answer.

I figured it out. Thanks though. You use this DS ROM called SavSender and a PC app called SavReceiver.

yes, you can get r4 card for your console with already downloaded games and kernels from here http://r4i-3ds.com.

you can just plug and play when you received the card, which is preflahsed and with .nds games in it already.
