How to use my ipod Touch as a hard drive?

Asked by marianamint (40points) December 19th, 2007

It does not appear on my desktop as other iPods did and my version of iTunes (7.5) does not have the option or at least I cannot find it…

It is my understanding that the iPhone and iPod Touch don’t do hard drive mode. You might be able to jailbreak it and get it to work. As far as I know it won’t work out of the box.

And it is stupid Apple crippled them. This should be supported.

I’m sure this will be added to the iPhone and iPod touch in a near-future software update. I suspect (no inside knowledge here, just educated guesses) that Apple will add file storage and browsing options to the system. This would make a lot of sense as they’re a lot more sophisticated than the regular iPods, and it’d be painful to have pdf (and Word and Excel) files on there and not be able to view them locally.
