Where should I go on a honeymoon in July?

Asked by gregc (63points) May 12th, 2009

We’re based in LA, don’t want to spend a fortune, and are looking neither for a Four Season Spa nor a backpacking trip through Nepal—but something in between would do nicely though. We definitely will want some R&R and downtime, as well as good food.

Ideas?

I got married and honeymooned at Asilomar and I recommend it to everyone.

With air fare as cheap as it is these days, you might consider either the carribean or hawaii. Now is as good a time as there has ever been. With online services, there are some deals to be made regarding accommodations.

@YARNLADY Ooh, that looks lovely!

I don’t have a suggestion for you, but wanted to wish you congratulations just the same!

New Zealand is a wonderful place to go – friendly people, beautiful scenery and not as painfully far from L.A. as it is from the East Coast – although it is still far.

Nothing beats the San Francisco Bay Area

The temps ranges from the high 60’s to the low 100’s within 50 miles so you can spend the morning at a waterpark, visit a winery for a late lunch and see Spamalot followed by coffee and dessert at a great restaurant. There is a Bay Cruise or a night on a houseboat on the river. There are historical walking tours and guided nature walks. There is Big City Shopping and poking around Chinatown stores. There are museums and zoos and merry-go-rounds. You can see Mt Diablo farms or Mt Sutro city views. Contact the visitors’ bureau for dozens of regional activities like a Joan Baez concert or a silent film festival both happeninf in July

Take the cruise to Alaska! It’ll save you from the summer heat and super-long distance travel. Also, fares are supposed to be cheaper right now. I’d recommend going on one of the smaller ships.
