Can you use iPhone headphones in a 5G video iPod, or will the microphone be damaged?

I’ve used my iphone headphones in a variety of different devices without any problems. So long it is a device that lacks microphone input through the headphones jack then it should not be possible for it to affect the iphone headphone mic what-so-ever.
