General Question

Yo, bikers! Can you suggest a good starting motocycle for a smaller gentleman like myself?

Asked by Grisaille (12025points) June 27th, 2009

I’m into cruisers, first and foremost. I was looking at Yamaha, and they have a few nice, lower bikes that seem to suit what I need/want. For the record, I’m about 5’6”-5’7”.

As an aside, what are you currently riding?

Thanks!

Wow, that IS nice. Holy hell, man!

Seriously, thank you. This lineup is incredible!

I wish I could double-lurve you.

It’s not a cruiser – but I’m the same height as you and I like the BMW 650 GS

BMW does make some great looking bikes. They’re just a tad too expensive ;_;

…though, this Harley VRSC line might make me change my budget. It’s a fantastic mixture of classic and modern. Hell, any one of these Sportsters would be awesome.

though I don’t know how I feel about the peanut tank on the classics just yet. Easy fix, dunno.

My boyfriend got one of these last year as his first bike. Honda Shadow 750

He says he is comfortable on it and that they’re pretty low to the ground. (he’s about 5’8”- 5’9”)

Classy AND inexpensive. Thanks, @row4food!

Great suggestions, guys. All extremely helpful.
