What is your recommendation for a new toilet?

Asked by krisjensen (10points) July 28th, 2009

I want to take advantage of a rebate for replacing old toilets with low-flow models before it expires. What are some good models to consider?

We got a Toto Ultramax and are very pleased with it. This guy reviews various toilets and also seems to like Toto, but includes some other brands such as Eljer. The one problem is that Toto isn’t typically carried in our part of the country. However, we were able to order it online, our local plumber installed it, and we have had no problems with it. It has a 3” flush valve instead of a 2” so it “swallows” better.

My parents like the pressure assist toilets but I find them noisy.

I love my toto with the washlet but it’s expensive. My husband is a contractor and says the Kohler Wentworth is a great deal for your money.

We bought our toilet online and it wasn’t all that expensive. Sure it was more than the cheapo low-water-use toilet at Home Depot or even Plumber’s Warehouse, but we feel it was worth it. Especially for us, the larger flush valve is important (well, for me, anyway, because I’m the one that gets to unclog toilets in our house.)
