What should i do with my somewhat broken notebook?

Asked by nightclaw (7points) July 29th, 2009

I have a Compaq nx9005 Notebook without screen, broken CD-drive and no boot-from-usb option in bios.
So what clever uses do you propose?
I thought about setting it up as a mediacenter type of homeserver, but how do i install it without cd/usb boot?
Thanks for you answers

1. I believe it’s possible to install over a network with some systems.
2. Buy a new cd-drive
3. Drop kick it and cough up the dough for a real machine.

hey if you have an external cd drive laying around, just use that to boot then ya, a media server is a good idea.

I got the harddrive in a spare notebook and installed ubuntu9 onto it, now i’m struggling with the setup for the external monitor.
