Where does Evernote store information?

Asked by sridharj_in (7points) July 29th, 2009

Hi

I have GBs of documents, text, pics, emails already in different folders. When I drop them into Evernote, does it create a copy somewhere or does it reference them from the original location?

Thanks

It stores copies on their servers. They can’t sneak into all of your computers and access your files =P

@eambos: I was wondering about the local saves, not the ones on the cloud. 40 megs is not sufficient and I am paranoid anyway. Sorry for not being explicit upfront.

If you are on a mac, your local data is stored in /user/Library/Application Support/Evernote/Data

It doesn’t seem to be there in Lion. Does anyone know where Evernote stores copies in Lion? I need to know whether it’s safe to delete files after adding them to Evernote. (Does it work like iPhoto and iTunes where it copies files, or does it just reference its stored location?)
