Have you ever had a dream which was a continuation of another dream you had a long time ago?

Asked by ragingloli (51970points) September 2nd, 2009

In the first dream I was the butler of a guy whose daughter had gone missing in the woods.
But the last time U had this dream was years ago.
In the latest dream I had this night, I was again searching for this very daughter, but this time U was not the butler, but an android working for the same guy, this time working together with the butler that U was in the first dream. The daughter was also older than the last time.
There were also other similarities, like building sentry towers to fend off incoming wolves.

Yes.

My dreams have sequels.

And occasionally the locations in my dreams are the same, but the story is different.

That happens to me, too. And there are lots of places in dreams that I’ve never seen irl and are exclusive to the dream world. As well as people I’ve never met. There’s a few locations I keep seeing in numerous dreams. One is an underground train station. In another words, a subway. Very dim and unsettling.
When I have sequel dreams, they tend to be nightmares. But occasionally not. I also sometimes have dreams that predict the future. Not in some silly way. But like.. As far as taking me to places I’ve never seen, there was one it took me through in particular a couple times that, sure, I had yet to see irl. But then when I went to Wichita to visit someone, I noticed it when I first stepped out of the airport and looked around. “THIS is that place!” (and no I’d never even been to KS before in general). It was exactly the same, detail by detail.

Having trouble with your “I” key?
The only dream I can remember having a sequel was one I had years ago, when I was under the age of ten, in which I was taking a speeder bike (as in Star Wars) class, which took place on a dark, LED-lit indoor drag strip. A few years later, I dreamt that I was in the next, more advanced level of the class, in a forest as seen in the actual movie. The Ewoks were conspicuous in their absence, however.

I’ve had sequels to dreams, but they were always in the same night. I would wake up from one part of the dream and then would go back to sleep and it would continue from where it left off. But I’ve never had a dream continue from a long time ago. I’ve had dreams that took place in the same place a dream from a long time ago took place, but it wasn’t a continuation of the dream.

Yes, there was a period of time when I used to have these recurring dreams. They’re not exactly continuations of each other (some where), but they are mainly episodes in a series in a parallel universe very similar to ours. I even recognise places where I’ve been, except that in the dream they are slightly different. There is this city I’ve lived in and there’s a founain in one of the squares, and there’s a pub instead of a jewellery at the corner, and the old mosque is still operational. And people’s clothes are different, and the shoe shop down the road is actually a garage. But it’s still the same neigbourhood.

Yes. I have two, maybe-three dreams that are sequal dreams. One of them I have been having since I was a child. They seem to recur during times of stress.

Won’t bore you all with the details what happens in them but I get this regularly :-)

I have a recurring dream where I’m walking down a hallway that goes forever in both directions, the floor is green, the doors are orange, and the walls are white. All the doors look exactly the same, I pick a door and go in and something different happens every time. The doors are portals, I’ve been to an awesome beach, appeared under water, walked into a burning house, and to the top of a very tall building in a city that was unrecognizable.
