What, "Oh my God! I can't belive you haven't seen <insert movie name>!", have you not seen?

Asked by Blondesjon (33994points) September 26th, 2009

A very abbreviated list of mine would include:

A Few Good Men
Titanic
Field of Dreams
Schindler’s List
Superbad
Hotel Rawanda

The list goes on, but you get the idea. . .

Slumdog millionare
Juno
The Dark Knight
The Wrestler
They all seem overrated and overhyped to me, therefore I refuse to watch them. Plus, it’s trendy to like these movies.

laureth's avatar

Star Wars.

Les's avatar

@WTF – Ugh.. Be glad about that. Yuck. The book is even worse, if that is even possible.

Slumdog Millionaire for me, too. And I have no interest in it whatsoever.
Up until a couple of days ago, “Idiocracy”. I wish I still hadn’t seen that. Biggest waste of my time, ever.
Sorry. One more edit. Incidentally, this is why I hate when people say, “You would love this movie. It’s so funny/awesome/good/blah blah blah.” How do you know what I’ll love?

andrew's avatar

The Godfather movies. I’ve seen half of one, and I couldn’t get through it.

I’m sorry.

I’m so sorry.

XOIIO's avatar

Transformers
The birds
Arachnaphobia
Eight legged freaks
Matrix (all)
Tremors (all)
The abyss
Star wars (all)

Tons of movies, I could write a list 2 pages long.

I almost forgot, TRAINSPOTTING!!!

whatthefluther's avatar

Almost every horror movie made in the last 30 years , inc. whatever the hell the ones are with “Chuckie”....they are not exciting or thrilling, but rather disturbing, and there are always much better options available. Se ya….Gary/wtf

tinyfaery's avatar

I’m confused. Is this movies we like or don’t like?

PretentiousArtist's avatar

I think it’s supposed to be popular movies we haven’t seen.

aphilotus's avatar

The Goonies. Having been born in 1986, this is apparently some kind of “Grew up in the 90s” sacrilege.

evegrimm's avatar

I haven’t seen anything in theatres or an DVD since Watchmen…so, yeah, a lot of movies.

I haven’t seen Titanic or Napoleon Dynamite or Star Trek.

<hangs head in shame about that last one>

ETA: I’ve seen about half of the old Star Trek movies, however, and all of the Star Wars oeuvre, as well as Serenity, all three Matrix movies + the Animatrix, Underworld, all three Resident Evils and both Tomb Raiders. So I’m not a total waste of fan-space. :D

filmfann's avatar

Since this question was asked previously , I have seen Touch of Evil, but still not Singing In The Rain.

benjaminlevi's avatar

Austin Powers
Star Wars
Superbad
Old School

jonsblond's avatar

Deep Throat

PretentiousArtist's avatar

Napoleon Dynamite was a huge snoozefest, don’t bother watching it @evegrimm

Blondesjon's avatar

@PretentiousArtist . . .In the case of Napoleon Dynamite one can only determine, by watching, whether or not it is a waste of time.

tinyfaery's avatar

Meet The Parents

And most old movies like Casablanca and the Maltese Falcon.

rabbitheart's avatar

I got so much flack for not having seen the Lord of the Rings movies or the Indiana Jones movies, and I was literally locked into a room with friends to sit down and watch them. (I feel asleep during the first Indiana Jones, I apologize.)

seventeen123's avatar

Napoleon dynamite!

PretentiousArtist's avatar

The Hangover. I dislike crude and immature comedy movies aimed towards at adolescents or people whose mentality is like one.

SheWasAll_'s avatar

@Les I too have no interest in Slumdog Millionaire.
Dreamgirls, another one I have no interest in.
My parents freaked when they found out I’ve never seen The Thin Man.

PretentiousArtist's avatar

I would also like to add any disney movie. I never had a TV or a VCR when I was growing up, so I never had the “privilege” of seeing one (I mostly read and listened to music). Now obviously I have no desire to watch them, seeing how childish and sappy they are.

holden's avatar

Star Wars and I have no interest in seeing them.
Gone With the Wind
There Will be Blood
The Matrix

filmfann's avatar

Nailin’ Palin.

chicadelplaya's avatar

@filmfann There is actually a film called ‘Nailin’ Palin’??

lloydbird's avatar

Withnail and I.

Blondesjon's avatar

@filmfann . . .In a porn sense or more a Pasion of the Christ vein?

filmfann's avatar

lol There actually is a movie called Who’s Nailin’ Palin, produced by the good people at Hustler Magazine.

OpryLeigh's avatar

I haven’t seen any of The Godfather movies.

Lawrence of Arabia
Ben Hur
The 10 Commandments
From Here to Eternity
Rebel Without A Cause

The Greatest Story Ever Told
East of Eden

PretentiousArtist's avatar

Actually Citizen Kane is pretty good. People who don’t like it just have a short attention span.

OpryLeigh's avatar

@Bluefreedom I knew I would forget some, Fiddler of the Roof is a beautiful soundtrack and so is Yentl which I was reminded of when you reminded me of Fiddler.

J0E's avatar

Star Wars, hands down, I am always thoroughly shocked when someone hasn’t seen at least one of them.

frostgiant's avatar

2001: A Space Odyssey
Full Metal Jacket
Eyes Wide Shut
(Anything Kubrick)

mistered's avatar

@J0E the only Star Wars movie I could get my wife to watch was The Clone Wars. She refuses to see the others.

I can’t think of any movies because I’ve watched all that have been listed.

MacBean's avatar

I had absolutely no interest in the Godfather movies, and then someone made me see the first one, and I watched the other two without being forced. I’ll never stop thanking her for forcing me to sit down and watch.

I still haven’t seen Star Wars, though. Someday I will. Because I can quote/reference it like I’ve seen it. It’d be nice to really know what I’m talking about.

PretentiousArtist's avatar

@frostgiant you should watch those movies immediately. Kubrick is one of the best directors.

OpryLeigh's avatar

I’ve just noticed that my previous comment was meant for another discussion on here! I have seen both Fiddler on the Roof and Yentl!
