Where can I get more of these ✖ ♥ ღ ▲ kind of symbols?

Asked by xTheDreamer (881points) October 5th, 2009

I’m looking for more variation/style of symbols, I don’t want the regular plain symbols like you usually see such as the heart, star, cross etc I want some symbols that people hardly every have seen. Different ones not common ones.

I’ve tried looking up character codes/html characters etc but I haven’t found much. I like the ones in wingdings font but when I copy and paste it to msn or some website it just changes to a letter.

Where can I find them?

Well, the third one you posted is just a letter in the Georgian alphabet, which can be found in any font that contains Georgian script. If you’re on a Mac, you can go to Edit—> Special Characters and it has all kinds of crazy symbols: ♍♆☀☪♘

How can I make it so that the symbols don’t show up as boxes with four numbers in them? I always feel left out when people use those things. Is there something I have to enable on my browser?

Whether someone can see them or not has little to do with the poster – it depends on their browser and the fonts available for it to use for display. Check your font options if you are getting them displayed properly.

¡™£∞§¶ªº≠œ∑®†¥øπåß∂ƒ©˚∆¬…æΩ≈ç√∫µ≤≥÷ These are pretty standard – you should be able to see them.
€ŒÅ͉ÓÔÒÚÆÁ‡flfi±Ç◊¿ These are less common but most systems should display them.
☀☁☂☃☄☠☢☣☤☎☏✈♤♧♡♢✄ These a some that often cause problems.

Can you see the ones I just posted at the end of my above post? It should be the Scorpio sign, some weird thing, a sun sign, the Islam crescent and star, and a chess knight.
