How many .gov and .com domains are there? Where is this info listed?

Asked by darrellsilver (27points) October 14th, 2009

I’m trying to find a resource to help answer the question of how big the .gov domain space is. The same question applies to .com, but .gov should be easier to quantify.

How many domains are there, how much space do they use?

Start with ICANN: http://www.icann.org/

http://www.zooknic.com/Domains/counts.html for .com
http://www.informationweek.com/news/government/policy/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=215600330 for .gov

“How much space do they use” doesn’t quite make sense—are you trying to find out how many IP addresses are allocated? http://xkcd.com/195/
