This and more. How about virtual conferences “holodeck” style?

I just read an article about this the other day along with information about the new USB 3.0, 3-D television, and the new 802.11ac and 802.11ad wi-fi technology that is on the horizon. This new stuff is pretty amazing with all it can do and the article stated it is very close to becoming reality. The next few years are going to be very exciting with all the new ‘toys’ that will be coming out.

what is augmented reality?

Coooooool.

But after a while, we could become dependent on this kind of thing and no one will really know where anything is? If you forgot your phone or the battery ran out, you are screwed,..

@bagelface I think that’s already true. I know plenty of people who keep a GPS in their car, and no maps.

True,.. so sad.

@bagelface well, sad when solar wind knocks out all the GPS sat’s.

This is totally the way to go especially if we continue to embrace technology, augmenting our senses seems as one of the logical extensions of technology. I remember reading about a man who, as an experiment, wore a belt around his waist that would vibrate on different points of the belt to indicate where magnetic north was, after a time the man could tell how crooked roads really were and could tell the exact direction of his house from miles away. He essentially developed a new sense, sense of magnetism and direction through the underlying sense of touch. If taken from this concept there’s a host of other senses we can develop through the use and maybe combination of our natural 5 senses.
