I need some good, general "house" music for a theatre production - any suggestions?

Asked by cbloom8 (1723points) November 10th, 2009

I’m looking for some music that can be played before, after, and at intermission for a play called “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.” There isn’t really a genre of music that goes with it (although I do have several vocalless tracks that I play within the show), so I’m looking for music that is musically neutral (everyone can enjoy it) and something that makes nice background music to listen to.

I’m looking for specific tracks, and a good variety of music. I’ll get the music through Grooveshark, so money isn’t an issue.

Any suggestions?

have you tried Pandora.com? It is the music genome project, and they should have every kind of music imaginable.

@Psychedelic_Zebra – I’ve got a Pandora account and I definitely like it, but where should I start music wise?

I might go with Pandora if I don’t get many suggestions, but I don’t like the idea of having random songs coming up and there are, on occasion, commercials.

Try a comedy movie soundtrack like “Drowning Mona” if you want something upbeat and bouncy.

How about Pogo?

The music video for my song ‘Alice’, an electronic piece composed using sounds recorded from the Disney film ‘Alice In Wonderland’.

Look up Korngold’s “Sinfonietta.”

try something from Korpiklaani
but this one is my favorite one you want something to make it seem like you are on an adventure, like Alice.

20’s and 30’s jazz, played nice and quiet. Goes with pretty much all theatre. Think Andrews Sisters, that kind of thing.
