Embedding a SWF into a Flash website. Symbols in the SWF not animating?

Asked by TheRocketPig (612points) November 18th, 2009

Hey fellow Flutherteers!

OK, so I’m making this website (in flash CS4, Actionscript 3.0). Nothing flashy, just a frame with buttons that point to 3 different flash animations.

The way I figured out how to embed the animations was to import their SWF files into the library and treat them as a symbol. This works well enough but the symbols that I used for animating some of the objects in the SWF (Like a bird’s flapping wings) aren’t playing. The actual animation plays, but the animated symbols in it are static.

Any thoughts on why this is happening? Also, am I going about this correctly? Is there a better way to imbed flash animations into a flash site?

Thanks!

Did you build the swf animations? Do you still have the original .fla? If not your other option would be to add the swf as an empty movieclip.

just create movieclips for those animated things(birds wings) in your flash movie, and add those movieclips to the stage when the corresponding button is clicked isntead of adding a swf.
