What is a "syrup-sucker"?

Asked by troubleinharlem (7991points) November 18th, 2009 from IM

I heard the term with ice-skating, and I don’t know what it means.

i have never heard that term before but could it be maple syrup on snow, wrapped around a stick? that’s all i can think of right now! :)

@mclaugh ; I looked it up, and it didn’t say anything. The snow and maple syrup sounds good, though.

yeah, i know. it wouldn’t really be anywhere on the internet. it’s more of a french tradition. we call it “tire sur la neige”

It is a derogatory term for someone from Canada, usually used as an insult.

@DrBill seriously? wow, i didn’t know that…not very nice. not nice at all.

@lfino aah, I laughed. GA I have enjoyed many maple syrup ‘posicles?’ made by swirling maple syrup onto snow. But I automatically thought of French-canadians who do not like us westerners.
