If you cancel a Fluther account and start a new one, how long does it take before you can use the same email as before?

Asked by smartfart11 (502points) December 1st, 2009

Why won’t it work!? I’ve been trying to change the past couple days, and it keeps saying ‘that address is already in use,’ or something. And when I try to login to my old one, it says that I have the wrong username or password.:(

Please answer!! I had to make a new gmail account to give me the account. It’s really annoying having to log in and off of my accounts.

While I am sure you will get an official answer regarding using your old email I can tell you an easy handy trick that will make it a non issue:

Log onto your primary Gmail account.

1. Click on “Settings”

2. Select “Accounts and Import”

3. Add the new email.

Now you will get all the email from your other gmail account and also send from it too.

Huh? Did you forget your original name and password?

@YARNLADY You can’t switch it to the old email address because it thinks somebody else is already using it.

Never. To get around this, change the email address of the old account to another one and then you can make that email add the email for your new account. Hope that made sense.

Yeah, this is currently a bug (which we hope to fix soon). Please email us using the contact form and we’ll remove the email manually.

I’ve got it figured out (sorta) now. I just got a new email (not just so it would work on Fluther), and it’s fine now.
