Are there things you've sworn you would never do and then ended up doing them anyway?

Asked by avvooooooo (8880points) December 7th, 2009

Something you decided that you would never do or say that, when you got into a situation you found yourself doing the very thing that you decided that you would never?

It can be as little as stooping to someone’s level or as big as being trapped in the mountains with a plane crash with no hope of rescue and resorting to cannibalism.

What have you done that you thought you would never?

Smoke, cut myself, and listen to screaming music. There’s this other one I don’t think I should mention.

I swore I’d never swear but now I’ve sworn so much you’d swear I’d sworn to be a pirate.

That’s right. A pirate.

ohhh smoking!
I said I’ll never have long hair again, and I did
I said I’ll never spend too much money on clothes, and I did
I’ll never ride a bike again, and I did, and ended up in the hospital just to say it again
I guess the only thing you actually never do is swithching sports teams…

Too many to mention.
Life has a way of making you do what you swore you never would.

So very many. Some though admittedly few of them are even good things, like speaking comfortably in front of a large group of people.

Yes but for fear of people thinking badly of me I am not going to say what it is because, despite it not being the right thing to do in many other peoples eyes, it was the right thing for me and I don’t regret it.

I swore I wouldn’t take the lord’s name in vain (when I believed in it as a child).

I swore I’d never try a cigarette. But it was right after having sex on a balmy spring night under a tree on the grassy banks of the Guadalquivir River in Seville, and the guy really wanted one, so I gave in and let him smoke one and he convinced me to try it.

Sure, when I was younger.

As your perspective of life matures, you accept that you have no way of knowing what you will or would not do given the circumstances.

Anything’s possible.
