Have you ever combined foods only for it to end horribly?

Asked by rangerr (15765points) December 15th, 2009

We got the brilliant idea one year to make a sandwich out of all the Thanksgiving leftovers. It tasted pretty awful.

Then tonight, someone got the idea of a Warhead dipped in hot sauce. Needless to say, that ended horrible.

What good ideas have you tried that ended up completely disgusting?

I thought that peanut butter in scrambled eggs would be divine. I was wrong.

It turned into this hard crusty thing that resembled neither eggs nor peanut butter.

I’m not sure if this counts as food, but one time I thought that mixing Whiskey and cranberry cocktail is a good idea.

It is not a good idea. At all.

Bananas and orange juice. DISGUSTING!

KatawaGrey's avatar

@IBERnineD: That reminds me of the time I wanted to drink both milk and cranberry juice. The result was not unpleasant, but very much like watery yogurt.

Edit to add: I was pretty young at the time so I did not know that cranberry juice was acidic enough to curdle milk.

@gggritso That made me shiver thinking about it.

Green beans, corn and croutons. I told my family to not eat it. Gross.

Ranch dressing on my meatloaf. The meatloaf was a little dry and I had nothing, but, Ranch to moisten it up. My stomach was doing flips afterward.

I used to add Ranch to a lot of things, and think that I’ve ODed on the stuff. The smell of it makes me sick.

when I was bodybuilding, I tried to make a tuna smoothie. It didn’t taste nearly as good as you’d think

IBERnineD's avatar

@KatawaGrey I thought the mix would be perfect together since they are both healthy and breakfast foods, but nope it tasted just like puke.

Doritos and french onion dip right after a bowl of pistachio pudding. Drunk foraging at it’s finest.

Good idea for flavoring baked beans- root beer.

Bad idea- triple berry wine cooler.

Also, do not take Pepto bismol after a night of drinking and eating Cheetos. Orange and pink are not pretty coming back up.

Putting spaghetti over mashed potatoes. Sounded good at the time, but tasted awful.

@gggritso cranberry juice & vodka are good!
One of my kids used to make peanut butter & pepperoni sandwiches.

I used to love Mt. Dew and chocolate ice cream floats.

Jacket's avatar

@Blondesjon Really? Hmm. I guess I’ll have to try that.

Anything with cranberry juice in it. It just sends me shivers down my spine. Literally.

PandoraBoxx's avatar

@rhodes54, If I could give you extra Lurve for the tuna smoothie, I would. That sounds totally like a culinary mistake.

Large dickles dipped in chocolate sauce….doesn’t work too well.

IBERnineD's avatar

yummm dickles

Jacket's avatar

Hey, now. Don’t come down on chocolate dipped dickles. Dickles are alright. They have almost zero carbon footprint.
