Looking for free homemade gift ideas for family members’ birthdays, using household items, but also something that they will be touched by and really appreciate.

Old family photos, scanned to a disk.
Collection of favorite family recipes, with stories about who likes what, and pictures of them. Put it in an inexpensive small photo album.
Cater a meal for a person and their friends. I did this for my mother-in-law. I cooked for her and her friends. They loved it.

Why not make your own Oils, White xmas, Rocky road, chutneys, biscuits, nougat. A friend of mine is making all these for Christmas presents. :)

This year I made light covers (for nightlights/christmas lights) out of old tea light candle bottoms. I scraped out the old wax and popped pinhole designs into them with a pushpin. I snipped a section out to fit over the bulb attachment and they look lovely. You could do the same to make ornaments for the tree.

G’day Qwertymuffin,

Thank you for your question.

It depends on your skills and the tastes of the recipients.

My dad made a beautiful dolls house for his two granddaughters and a seesaw for his three grandsons. If you are good at cooking, making good foods may well be an option. If you are good at knitting, a home made jumper or other clothing may be good especially in colder climates.

Best wishes.

Whatever you have a talent for is what I’d go with-my personal favorite are heartfelt letters :)

A jar with all the ingrediants needed to make the recipe. For example: Cookies. Sugar, dough, MnMs, etc. And the recipe attached to the lid of the jar.(:
