sorry about the grammar being so bad in this question it has to do with the problems im having
ok so it started with the scroll thing on the mouse when you tried to scroll up and down it scrolled sideways
now if i have caps lock on its all lowercase and without caps lock on everything is uppercase
all the punctuation buttons when you try to type that symbol it acts like your holding down shift so thats why im not doing punctuation
holding shift doesnt help
when i try to push the over keys it highlights the text
and when i click a link it opens in a new window

One of your shift keys is stuck.

Try a different keyboard, or hitting your shift keys repeatedly to see if you can get it to unstick =)

Your Shift key may be stuck. Try banging the shit out of it.

Stuck shift key?

Are you using a KVM by chance? Using one keyboard and mouse for 2 or more Pcs. If so try reseting the KVM. Also, try to do a ctrl+alt+del and then hit escape.

Pressing Shift over and over again really fast, trying to get it unstuck. It worked! I had a hard time believing it was stuck because it looked like it wasn’t lower than normal or anything. It was strange.

@ChocolateReigns At the risk of explaining too much, there’s a little switch under each key that’s actually independent of the key itself. So we have a little sandwich that looks like this:

Key
Spring
Switch
Board

So it’s possible for a key to spring OK, and the switch itself to be stuck. Unless you’re on a really fancy keyboard, like a Model M keyboard, you’re not going to be able to feel the clicky of the Switch, just the end of travel of the key.

Huh. Interesting. Apparently a keyboard has never broken in my house because if it had I would know that! (We take apart practically all the broken electronics)
