Is there a way to get the Windows Live Messenger PC-version-look onto a Mac?

Asked by xTheDreamer (897points) January 2nd, 2010

I’ve been wondering if the MSN Messenger/Windows Live Messenger can be the same on the Mac as on a PC.
For instance the whole interface/skin/border etc of the WindowsLiveMessenger on PC as on Mac or you can’t do that?
Or can you download a PC version of the Windows Live Messenger to the Mac?

If you know anything of Windows Live Messenger from PC to Mac let me know some extra info.

You can use Parallels or VMWare Fusion to install Windows on the Mac and then run Messenger right alongside the Mac apps. But it would be horribly ugly and just awful, so I would recommend not doing it. :(

You might be able to install the windows live messenger addon called ‘messenger plus’ . there are skins you can use on it to change the look of messenger. (buttons and everything)

I’m unclear on why you would want to in the first place, but aMSN and the official microsoft messenger for mac may be a good place to start for native mac clients.

Like I said before, though, I’m not sure why you’d want to. Both iChat (which comes with your mac) and Adium are much stronger alternatives.
