Ideas for songs to use in a short film?

Asked by sliceswiththings (11723points) January 9th, 2010

I am making a short film about two lovers separated. They come together again in the end.

This is just for fun, so I want it to be super over-the-top. What’s a really corny sad breakup song to have in the background? Instrumental is preferred, but I’m open to anything.

Also, at the end I want to have a happy reunion song. Ideas for that?

Alternatively, ideas of scenes in videos that exemplify this style would be much appreciated.

Here’s a short list:

1. “Always Something There to Remind Me” as covered by Naked Eyes.

2. “Every Time We Say Good-bye” by Ray Charles.

3. “Love Hurts” by Nazareth.

4. “I Can’t Smile Without You” by Barry Manilow. Can’t get much more sappy than that.

The mega-cheesiest over-done most trite break-up song? If you are satirizing the whole thing…..

All By Myself.

Make-up cheesiest song…?

Close to You

For producing things, freeplaymusic.com is one of my favorite libraries for instrumental audio tracks. Maybe you’ll find something there?
