Can you drink too much milk?

Asked by Morpheus (23points) January 24th, 2010

I drink literally like a gallon of milk every two to three days. Milk is like blood to a vampire to me. I feel like its good for me i suppose, it can’t be bad for you right?

Just don’t drink a gallon of milk in a hour and you should be fine.

Only if your lactose intolerant.

All things in moderation…I loves me some milk too. .

If you’re getting too many calories from one thing, then you’re missing out on nutrition from other types of food. So yeah, I think you can probably drink too much milk. I don’t blame you, though. Milk is yummy.

Doesn’t everything cause cancer these days?

I probably wouldn’t drink that much conventional milk (meaning milk from cows injected with rBGH [bovine growth hormone]). Here is an article from the Cancer Prevention Coalition about the dangers of rBGH, which include cancer and a bunch of other really freaky things.

I’d feel a lot safer drinking that much milk if it was organic.

Well there’s the solution. The hormones lower the casein levels so that negates astro’s study. I’m getting some chocolate milk.

@SeventhSense: First you drink chocolate milk, later you grow boobies

“It’s not sync with evolution. Cows have only been domesticated for the last eight thousand years. Before that, they were running around mad as lorries. The human digestive system hasn’t got used to dairy products yet.”

@Ruallreb8ters
Poppycock…eight thousand years is enough for anything. Besides, we’re omnivores and we’re weaned on mammal’s milk.
Milk along with eggs, is the single best source of chain link amino acids which is the building block of muscle. I drink milk and eat eggs and I am strong like bull..There are hundreds of substances which are said to cause cancer as well. Isolate one and that doesn’t mean you eliminate free radicals, environmental unknowns or synthetics which could equally contribute.

@Ruallreb8ters: Are you quoting a source other than yourself, or just putting your own words inside of quotes to give them more credibility?

SeventhSense's avatar

Many cultures drink milk and even drink cows blood and have done so for millenia.
I have to sleep ciao peeps

It’s from Snatch, i didnt refrence it because I thought everyone would know. In my own words cows have five stomaches…humans have one.

It seems that there is indication to that too much milk and vitamin A can lead to osteoporosis or loss of calcium weakening the bones. For some reason especially for women. I don’t know what is recommended though, and I don’t think you should be alarmed. Right now all I have are Swedish articles, but you might want to look into it.

I would love to drink milk from my lovers breasts if I were not competing with a baby (We have no babies) and if she were lactating (she’s not of course) and if lactating continuously was not so darn inconvenient for women.

Maybe that’s kinky or just plain weird, but warm milk from a human breast seems beyond anything else in terms of human contact and comfort. I’d even be willing to have lactation induced in me if it would please my wife to enjoy the same pleasure.

I was bottle fed, can you tell?

My children were all breast fed and I wished at that time I could share that responsibility, especially since after a while, my children’s biological mother lost interest in each child permanently.

Since i was a child, i have always be a counesierre(spelling?) of whole fresh milk. its like i have been addicted to it since birth. aren’t we all? i grew up with the notation that children should always have plenty of milk to drink. a five gallon restaurant-type canister of fresh milk was always availabe to my children in the fridge. today, they are the same way. we drink nothing but real milk. to date, we are all in great health. unless you are not tolerant to whole milk, i see nothing wrong with drinking plenty of it. how people tolerate watered-down milk is beyond me.
