Television connections - scart and hdmi?

Asked by Sandydog (1265points) January 30th, 2010 from iPhone

Im looking at buying a new hd tv ( an LG ). Problem is it only has one scart socket while I use 2 on my present tv, one for my hard drive recorder, and the other for my dvd player.
The tv im thinking about has 2 hdmi sockets.
Do I really need a tv with 2 scart sockets? Im not familiar with the hdmi socket, and I dont have any high definition players.
LG tv’s seem to have the best ratings and thats why my thinking is headed that way.
Dont know if this question will make sense in the USA as I’m in England.

If you have hdmi sockets on your external devices you should use hdmi since it’s “the future” and even the present. There might still be devices such as digital tv boxes without hdmi, but if you put lot of money into buying a new tv go for the ones with at least 2 hdmi. You might get external devices in a near future using hdmi.
