What's the most exciting form of transport that you've used & were you in control or somebody else?

Maybe as a birthday treat or while on holiday or perhaps a hobby of yours.Hot air balloon, helicopter. Certainly would excite me but never up until now had the pleasure.

Helicopter!
The last time I was in Vegas I went on a ride with the boy and some friends. I’m really not into heights or flying, but I decided to do it. It was amazing. The lift off and landing were so smooth, and the view was incredible.

My uncle had a boat that we took out on the lake once. That was a lot of fun. He did most of the driving (state law and all) but did let me have a shot at the tiller.

Riding a…horse! I thought I was in control, but soon became convinced I was not. I also rode an elk once at our neighbor’s ranch…but that wasn’t as exciting as the horse. A horse gives this feeling of freedom and speed. An elk? They’re kind of lumpy.

I regularly have the privilege to travel by running.

I think the human body is still the most versatile and practical mode of transport known to man, with the most potential for improvement in the most ways. If properly conditioned, it can cross the most uneven terrain, climb ladders and trees, hop over gaps or puddles, vault over low walls, climb over high walls, squeeze through narrow passages, and you can even use it indoors without getting weird looks.

Its top speed is a bit of a disadvantage, admittedly. But still.
I’m glad not to be a cripple. It’s awesome to be a pedestrian.

@Fyrius Couldn’t agree more I run or walk whenever possible.Healthy for me & a nice side effect also for the planet.

I don’t like heights but didn’t mind at all in the balloon.
I was not in control, but my balloonist was great.
Just a word or warning, you don’t want to be too frail because when you land it is often a sort of “controlled crash.” There isn’t really any way of knowing a head of time where exactly you will land.
I realized when the flight was nearly over that my face was aching from smiling so much.

The Concord. They did not let me drive it.

None of which I was able to drive. Boo. But they were all pretty awesome.

@Les
You must have quite a story to go with those pics.

@Fyrius – I agree, I love to run, jog, walk, as well as hop, skip and jump!

But the best, most exciting ride is when I hook the Town Dog to my bike and we go bike jouring! I like to think I have a modicum of control but we often end up wherever she decides to go. No matter it is always fast and furious and often breath taking.

A 28-foot yacht in a force 8 gale. I wasn’t in sole control but I was part of a 6-man crew and it was one of the best experiences of my life.
