Imges from certain websites won't load on my computer.

Asked by simonPARASITE (195points) February 3rd, 2010

I used to frequently visit Etsy and Postsecret but recently all the images on both of these sites won’t load, I’ve emptied cache and tried again but that still doesn’t work, is there anything else I can do?

Have you tried a different browser?

Are you using Internet Explorer? Click on Help, then About Internet Explorer, and look at what version you are using, and let us know.

Something must be amiss on your machine or browser. The first main image on www.postsecret.com is a plain vanilla JPG image that isn’t at all large. It has a bit of wierdness in how they have entered the alt attribute, but that shouldn’t interfere with it displaying even in a notoriously buggy browser like Microsoft IE. What borwser/version and operating system are you using?

@filmfann @jaytkay @ETpro I’m using Firefox primarily but have tried Safari when having trouble.

Here is a direct link to the first postsecret image ETpro mentions. Can you open this?

Thanks @jaytkay

@simonPARASITE If you have trouble using both those browsers, then it must be something at the OS level going on. And yet you can see images on other sites? I looked at the subject image using Google Chrome, but Firefox shows it too. Neither browser seems to have trouble with the extra quotation marks in the ALT attribute because they at least are balanced.
