How come I can visit my RSS feed perfectly fine, but Feedburner, Reader etc. cannot find it? Can you?

Asked by Vincentt (8094points) February 14th, 2010

Having generated an RSS feed I can view it in Firefox just fine, however, when I try to subscribe to it in Google Reader, burn it in FeedBurner, or run it through the validator, I constantly get a 500: Internal Server Error.

I don’t really have a clue how to find out the cause now. What do they do different than me when visiting the feed that causes the error to be generated? Can you view the feed?

I can view it just fine, and Google Reader lets me subscribe as well. Is it possible that you can’t subscribe because it’s your own feed? I don’t really know enough about RSS to say either way though..

@GrayTax Ah, sorry, that is because I solved the issue :) (At least, I found out what the problem was – not why that problem occured. For the technically minded who also have experience with the Zend Framework: I had disabled the ViewRenderer action helper’s automatic rendering function, but for one reason or another when a bot viewed the page, it was still looking for the view. Adding an empty view script solved the issue.)

Heh, fair enough =] Glad it worked out!
